Open Heaven For Teens 11 December 2022 – Reasons For Hospitality
TOPIC: Reasons For Hospitality [Open Heaven for Teens 11 December 2022]
MEMORISE: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2
READ: 2 Kings 4:8-17
And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.
And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelation 2:1-29, Hosea 9-11
MESSAGE:
Hospitality is the act of generosity and friendliness towards strangers and guests. Several Scriptures of the Bible speak about the importance of hospitality. For instance, Romans 12:13 says:
“Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.”
Every child of God is therefore expected to be hospitable. One reason is that since we expect people to be hospitable towards us, we should be so to others, too. Whatever you sow, you will reap (Matthew 7:12 ). Another reason is that hospitality is a criterion that would be used to separate the goats from the sheep on the last day. In Matthew 25:33-35 , Jesus clearly stated that the goats will be sent to hell where there will be gnashing of teeth. You should always be hospitable. Rather than spend your birthday with friends, spend time in an orphanage. Take your food and cake there to celebrate with the less privileged children. God is particular about the needy, never miss an opportunity to be a blessing to the ones around you.
KEY POINT:
Being hospitable tells if you are a true child of God.
HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You
While passing through this world of sin,
And others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within,
Let others see Jesus in you.
CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it through and through;
Say, does it point them to the skies,
Do others see Jesus in you?
What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
In mansions beyond the blue,
To find some souls that you have won;
Let others see Jesus in you.
Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave, and true,
And lead the lost to life and light;
Let others see Jesus in you.
